The Silk Vineyard is my personal hair growth journal.
Who are you?
Mikami. I’m a Capricorn, Water Monkey in college as a Psychology Major with a Japanese Studies Minor. Oh, I’m also the little thing that sometime appears in the pictures.

Sure, I have time. Lets see….Well I’m proud to say that I am owned by the worlds most cute yet ferocious kitten (well cat but shhh….), Ama and I have the worlds most understanding and caring boyfriend David who’s (now) the main reason why I’m trying to grow my hair long.
Tell me of your origins.
I’m of African and Caribbean Decent, but I have massive amount of Europeans on my moms side, mainly French and English. Also my great grandfather was Japanese so theres a wee but of Asian in me which I think accounts for other things than my hair unfortunately because while my grandmother looked super Asian I do not. So yeah.
Why the title “The Silk Vineyard”?
I picked The Silk Vineyard because I want my hair to literally flow down my back like a silk vine. Now I know there no such thing but I am allowed to hope so quiet you. Vines grow long don’t they? Silk – not the real stuff obviously – is smooth and beautiful and soft to the touch. So bada bing, bada boom if I can do it you can too.
How long do you want you hair to be?
I’m aiming for a total of 24 inches in 4 years time. Hair grows about 6 inches a year and I’m 5’8 with a long torso so in my dreams I’d love for it to be about 40 inches but yeah.
Huzzah, wah? Why?
I love long hair, I love it. I want it for myself. nuff said.
